Tap O Noth pretty much dominates the village of Rhynie and reflects the weather and the seasons of the village. Wearing a yellow skirt of gorse in May, the purple heather in August and a white veil of snow in the winter it can turn bright pink or orange when the sun rises and sets and other days you wouldn’t know it was there at all.

It’s a 50 minute walk from the hill’s car park to the summit, quite steep in places on a well defined stoney path. On the south facing flank of the fort in August and September take some time to pick the abundance of blaeberries, crowberries and cowberries whilst listening to the grouse and the skylarks……
